Welcome to the website of the Prince George District Teachers' Association (PGDTA).This website has been created to help teachers and others find information and stay informed on issues, and to help teachers access services available to them. For teachers, attendance at union meeting, involvement on union committees and reading our monthly newsletters are great ways to stay involved and informed. We hope that this website will be another way to meet the needs of members.

The PGDTA is a union of professionals that represents approximately 1000 teachers in Prince George, Mackenzie, McBride and Valemount. We are committed to promoting the cause of public education and to foster effective teaching and learning conditions for the profession. We represent our members in matters of terms and conditions of employment, and work to promote the welfare of teachers in School District 57, Prince George. When teacher's rights are violated or appear to be violated, teachers should contact the union to determine what can be done, and whether legal rights have been disregarded. If so, a grievance may be filed. Learn more about how grievances work by viewing our Collective Agreement.

The PGDTA works closely with the BC Teachers' Federation (BCTF). BCTF was established in 1917, and is the union of professionals representing 41,000 public school teachers in the province of British Columbia. All public school teachers in this area belong to the BCTF (British Columbia Teachers' Federation) as well as to the local Association. To learn more about the BCTF, view their website.

BC teachers voted to join the Canadian Labour Congress, North Central Labour Council and maintain membership in the BC Federation of Labour.
